The only differance's I have seen and had experience with flat vs conventional has been that the flat screens seem to have better geometry or convergence, mostly because of little curvature correction needed with a conventional set. I really do not think there are any great differances in the guns or drives of the flat screens, so my opinion would be no they are all the same in life expectancy
