It could be a few things

It could be a few things wrong with this TV set.  Alot of projection TV sets will have a built in safety circuit to blank video when there is a fault in the vertical output curcuit, so that the thin bright white lines do not burn a line on the inside serface of the picture tubes.  The correct way to service this set would be to get the schematic, look at the vertical output waveform and/or the blanking circuit waveforms and see if there is vertical output or if the blanking circuit is active.  Never, ever, ever, jump out a blanking circuit to see if that is the problem! I have seen other servicers do this for a split second, and poof a small line burns on the picure tube face and is seen in the picture as a small dark line in the main picture of the set when it is repaired.  The only way to fix this is to replace all three tube.  If the vertical circuit looks good, its then time to check out the video processor/ switching circuit.  These are repairs that should only be done by a trained tech, mainly because of the equipment thats needed to trouble shoot them and also the safety concerns regarding the HIGH VOLTAGE.  My advice would be to call in an authorized or good repair shop to have a look at this set.  Let us know how you made out and Good Luck
