I have a Toshiba 21" TV with built in VCR /DVD. The RF connector broke off. I opened the cabinet to replace the part but it seems as if the RF connector is a board encased in a tin case and soldered onto the main board? Is this something I should attempt to repair?
Not unless you know how to solder very well, as you can damage the antenne or RF connector as theres plastic or nylon inside of it for an insulator. You really should consult a repair person befoe touching the set. Good Luck and please let us know how you made out with this.
If you do decide to solder the connector, be very careful. The metal "box" is a faraday shield. changing the shape (bending) of the box will change the tuning of the RF input.
