Philips 25PT4458/05

So far I have had 2 Philips type 25PT4458/05 25" tv's delivered via IT HIRE. They had a batch which were purchased new and then used at the BRITISH OPEN. They are now selling them on EBAY. Both sets have displayed the same symptoms. At the left hand side of the screen the picture tends to have an area of "green hue" which comes and goes. I've tried moving the set in case the problem was environmental but without success and of course my 20 year old Tatung is not displaying these symptoms. Does anyone know if there is a known design problem with this set. The rest of the picture is sharp as you would expect from a new set except for the green shading. I've looked at the set when a white background has been displayed and there is definately a shading to the right of the crt in both sets. HAS ANYONE ANY IDEAS BEFORE I GO MAD!!!!!!!!

Your going to need to have a

Your going to need to have a tech come in and try to degauss the set with a professional degaussing coil, Or take the set to them. If when this is done to the set and it still wont clear up, the the set was most likly man handled and the shadow mask inside the Picture tube has shifted a bit. The only way to fix this is by replacing a picture tube. If this problem was not in the set when it was shipped, it could be a shipping damage claim involved. Heck its better then to have the tube replace at a cost of over 200 bucks a set. let us know how it turns out, and Good Luck

Larry I would have thought if

Larry I would have thought if it needed a degauss the poor colour would have been permenent.

If there is say a red background there is a slight green tinge about the size of a tennis ball which gradually fades and the red returns. This has happened on two sets of the same model. Others in the range are the 21" (21PT4458) and 28" (28PT4458) models. Has anyone else suffered in this way.

Oh I see. Ok if you know how

Oh I see. Ok if you know how to open the set and this is with the set unplugged, finf out where the degaussing coiul plug is and unplug it. Then plug back in and see if it stops comming and going. It could be an intermittant degaussing circuit. If that does not help I would need to see a video of it.
