Panasonic PT-47WX53 47 in Turns off after 15 mins

TV has been working fine. Purchased it new in 2003. Just yesterday it started its problem. The TV will turn on for anywhere from 10 to 20 mins then shut off. The power light on the front will blink. If we unplug it and plug it back in it will turn on again for another 10 or so mins. Thanks

I have an identical problem

I have an identical problem with my Panasonic CT-32HXC43. It's just over a year old and last month it suddenly went black. The red "on" light went off for 5 seconds, then began to blink for one second four times, then it stops for 5 seconds and then repeats. The only way to get it back on is to unplug it for a few seconds. Sometimes it stays on for a few minutes, sometimes just a couple of minutes. Other times it works fine for several days. Anybody got a clue?

Hello, We just discovered a

Hello, We just discovered a new twist to our dilemma. We have a Sony DVD/VCR Receiver Home Theater System hooked up to the TV. We played a DVD movie and it played all the way through without the TV shutting off. Went back to watch the TV and it shut off after 10 mins again. What is up with it. Thanks

I, too, have a DVD and a DVR

I, too, have a DVD and a DVR/Cable Box attached to my TV. I can watch movies on the DVD and the TV never shuts down. But in the regular mode and the DVR mode it shuts down after a few minutes as described above. Any help will be appreciated.

Ok the mystery has been

Ok the mystery has been solved.  I have found as well as a few of my buds in the biz, that this is a pretty common problem.  Its related to the main power supply regulator circuit.  The regulator IC is on the edge of being bad but its not yet gone bad and probably wont.  This needs to be repalced first off.  Now if the problem persist its a problem in the High voltage shutdown circuitry.. Its a fail safe circuit thats designed to shut off the horizontal sweep incase theres a fault in the High voltage or loss of horizontal sweep.  This will cause the set to shut down completely and the set will not start back up till the set is unpludgged and replugged in. the reason it will happen more on the regular is because the sync signal is stronger on a broadcast and not as strong on the DVD.  So the curcuit detects a fault in the circuit and shuts down.  The problem is one or a combination of a few differant things.  It could simply be a bad coupling capacitor from the circuit to the fail safe curcuit, a defective or leaky failsafe trigger transistor, or a defect in the wave shaper off the flyback transformer that feeds the comparator IC to measure the High voltage. On a rare occation, the sweep/video jungle IC had cold solder connections on it's legs. These are not by any means for a novice to repair themselfs as these problems are very intermittant and need to be monitored with an ocilliscope or a DV multimeter.  There should be a service bulliten that a well Panasonic repair shop should have on this problem.  good Luck and let us know how you made out or what was done to fix your problem.

I have a near identical

I have a near identical problem with my 52" samsung projection tv.  When I called samsung "customer service" they told me it had to go to a repair shop.  When I explained to them that I was not able to take my 52" TV 100 miles to the nearest Samsung authorized service shop, I told them I wanted to talk to a tech support department and the SOB hung up on me.  Talk about customer service... I'll never buy another Samsung.
