Need HOT advice for GE TV

I have a blown HOT transistor, I am trying to find a replacement, not having any luck.

My 1984 GE 19" TV blew it's HOT. The schematic enclosed in the TV says:
Horiz.
output xsistor and damper diode are included in the same unit. Replace
only with original equipment GE catalog replacement part number
EP15X218.

I have spent lots of time online trying to find a replacement and have tried a GE TV service shop, it is no longer available.

Does anyone know how to get a replacement? or worst case, a substitute?

I would appreciate any pointers. Thank You.

GE model number of set is 19PP5762W circa 1984.
Chassis is a 19PC-F
Transistor markings are: 1911, T.JAPAN, 410

The transistor your looking

The transistor your looking for is an ECG 89 Or NTE 89. Just find a NTE?ECG distributor in your area by going to http://www.nteinc.com and go to where it says distributor location and find one. This part will work just fine for your transistor. One word of caution, this set is very famous for having a bad Hi Voltage transformer to blow out and it takes out the HOT with it ,So if the transistor blows again the flybacks bad. Try taking out the AC fuse and clipping a 100 light bulb across it. If the bulb glows bright when plugged in, the transformers bad and you didnt blow out the transistor. If the light bulb glows bright and then dims down, the transformers most likly good But not always. Good Luck

Hey, thanks Mr. Dillon. Your

Hey, thanks Mr. Dillon. Your advice last july allowed me to get my old TV up and running (although it took me 6+ months to get around to it).  Originally I saw the smoke stain on the HOT mounting bracket and ordered an HOT with your assistance. After physically taking the old HOT out I noticed the smoke had actually come from a small blown disk capacitor across the HOT leads.  Had to order that too, it was 2KV rated. So I went ahead and put both components in anyway and it has been working now for a few weeks. Thanks a bunch.

Now with some confidence under my belt-- I have a 21" computer monitor that is also dead that I am going to try and fix.  The TV had a schematic hidden inside, my monitor does not. I'm afraid I won't get far with the monitor without a schematic. Maybe it can be ordered online? If so, do you have any links?

It is a 21" computer monitor, branded "Digital Equipment Corp"  AKA "DEC".  It is manufacutred by Mitsubishi, not sure but I think it is a "diamondtron" model? This is what I can come up with for model info:  Digital Equipment model VRCX1-WA, SN=4K70401895, January 1997.  Internally the serial number (mistubishi?) 2AAWFA, 704001895.

Symptom: Hit the power switch, front power LED comes on. Hear the deguass coil KICK ok.  CRT cathode glows orange. Then hear the power supply kick in with a "tweet" then off, then 4 more "tweets" then nothing. At this point the CRT cathode goes off, and the front power LED starts to blink.  My guess is the HOT or the flyback coil.  Maybe the power supply is cycling due to something open or shorted?  I can't identify the HOT, there are several large transistors but not in a TO3 case like my TV.  There is voltage coming out of the power supply, but without a schematic, I'm not sure what they are.

Can you offer any ideas?

Thanks again!

Yes Im sorry my friend, but

Yes Im sorry my friend, but when it comes to monitors, they are just not worth the time money or trouble to try and repair. I looked up from a friend, who used to repair alot of monitors. This monitor, yes is manufactured by Mitsubishi and has a common problem of a leaky or bad HOT, the horizontal output transistor and what makes that go bad is the Flyback transformer, and that is no longer available. Also the power supply has a couple of bad zener diodes as well as the main regulator IC that may cause the overvoltage shutdown to kick in. I admire you wanting to fix this but in my opinion, this is ready to see the ground, as it has seen better days. Wish i could assist you more with this.
