Player won't turn on - brand new, can't return

I recently bought an MP3/MP4 player from ebay from a seller in China. He has a high rating. Unfortunately, the manual was translated so poorly that you cannot understand a thing. I uploaded the software and connected the player with the firewire. It started charging. I though I hit the correct programs when it shut off and now I can't turn it on. I think I may have hit a formatting program. I followed one thread that talked about firmware. I found the chip board number, but there isn't firmware available for this chip board. I could be wrong. If there a way to reboot this thing? I didn't pay much for it, it's the shipping that will killl me if I can't get this going. I have no idea of the brand name, but I'm putting in the info I copied from the web. The chip number is MP-732CV1-SL 2005.11.05. Thanks for you help, if you can!
