I have a 2001 Phillips 60PP9701 HDTV set that I am finally connecting with HD through my cable carrier. When the tuner is hooked up to the HDTV component video inputs on the TV the HD cahnnels come in fine (except for some jumping of the signal). However, I LDTV channels all come in scambled. If I switch the to the LDTV (DVD) component video inputs, the reverse happens--clear signals on the LDTV channels and scambled signal on HDTV cahnnels.
Was this set built with HDTV inputs that only accept HDTV signals or is there something wrong with the set that it does not accept lower signals. I can undertand why the LDTV monitor inputs may not be able to up-step, but not downstep. Phillips customer sevice feels that there is something wrong with the set (i do not have confidence in their opinion).
I ahd an authorized sevice tech come out and he is stumped, too.
I know the cable box is OK as I can set it up on a newer HDTV set I have.
Any ideas????
