difficulties saving to mp3

i recently deleted a recording from my mp3 and when i went to play music files they had all dissapeared. i tried to save them to the device again however a text box saying "cannot create or replace file : the directory or file cannot be created" appeared. i have already tried rebooting my mp3 and computer but this had no effect. can anyone tell how i can fix this problem?!!
