i have the same problem with my samsung, did you found the problem.if so what was it,thanks
A plasma TV uses whats called a sustain voltage on the horizontal scan lines of the plasma screen and the address lines are what tells the screen what to light up and what color. On most sets a driver address board for the plasma screen, has on it the memory and driver IC's that are controlled by the microprocessor IC as well as the video processor IC. Your problem is most lokly a loose ribbon cable running from the driver board goint to the back of the plasma display. Ive also seen the driver ICs on the board to go out and cut off a part of the matrix grid on the display. It most likly wouldnt be a power supply problem or the sustain Source as if that was bad or low the whole display woulrd b. I would first check with the maunfacturer on the warranty status of each set. and where a local repair shop is located. if you feel confident enough, take off the back and lightly with the set off make sure all cables and -plugs are seated firmly inside ther sockets and holders. If this dosent work ,well youe gonna have to get a repair person to assist you with this repair. In one case I seen this problem anmd it turns out the A whole matrix address line blew open in the plasma display and the whole screen had to be replaced and the set was just out of the 90 day warranty. Good luck to both of you folks.
I HAVE A 42" ZENITH PLASMA TV that shortly after the warranty ran out (1 yr) we see two green "pin lines" down the right side of the screen. Within a week or so, a couple of more different colored lines appeared in the same area. Can anyone tell me if this is common or what type of repair this might entail. Also, do you believe that the lines will continue to multiply? When there is a dark picture on the screen you can barely see the lines. thanks for your help!
Patrice, your problem is one or a combination of two problems. I have seen a simple ribbon cable connector or connection be bad and/or intermittant that can cause this problem. I have also seen the drive IC cause a problem such like this. The bad news is it could be that the Ics are mounted on or with the screen as alot of maufacturers are doing these days and have to be replaced as an assembly. This is , if this is the case not a inexpensive thing to do. Hopefully this is not the case and a bad connection. This is not a repair job for the handi person or a mechanicly inclined person to do. There are no user serviceable parts inside this set so PLEASE call a repair person asap as this is going to get worse and if the screens not bad then it will go bad. Good luck and please let us know how you made out, and thanks for visiting us at techlore.com
