My 5.1 Surround Sound is not working HELP PLEASE!

OK, I have just went out and bought 5.1 surround sound system. I got back and realised that my DVD player only has L+R output and something called coxial (dont know if thats spelled correctly) I can get it to work with the main sub woofer, thats all. What can I do? Is there any adapters/cables I can buy to plug into the DVD player to make it 5.1 compatible?!?

Thanks

The coaxial output on your

The coaxial output on your DVD player is a digital output capable of carrying digital audio from your DVD player to receiver. Use it if you want to get actual 5.1 sound.

Most likely, your subwoofer is not working because you have either not turned it on in the receiver's menu, or you have not set up bass management properly (don't worry, it's VERY common).

Check out the article The 'Bassics' of Bass Management for help on this.
