Sound Problem w/ 36" Proscan

Recently developed a problem with the sound; hooked up a Direct TV receiver and it worked fine for about a week and then the sound went out. Picture is still perfect, sound works fine when playing DVDs or games. I'm thinking it might be a problem with the cable connection...any thoughts? Help!
