Help Please!!!!!

I have a Sony Digital Mavica FD73 and when I turn my camera on it flashes the empty battery symbol on the screen. Then it says- Drive Error C:32:01 then shows this message - For "InfoLITHIUM Battery" Only - in the center of the screen.

I have replaced the battery and it did the exact same thing. So I don't understand why it is telling me the battery is bad. I was wondering if it is possible for the charger to be corrupting the batteries? When I try to charge the battery the charger light comes on for like a second and then turns off and will not come back on unless you remove the battery and replace it in the charger but it does the same thing every time.
