MY RCA 52 Projection "NO Remote Respone"

I have a RCA P52926 Projection Big Scree that is only 3 years old. It will not adjust volume, turn on or off, nothing, with either the factory remote, or my Direct TV Remote. I believe it has something to do with the IR reciever within the television. I consider myself to be proficient enough to possibly fix the problem, or can I? Lookining for answers
