SAMSUNG VPD351 BAD LIGHTING

does anyone have or had a samsung vp-d351, i am finding that the lighting on this very poor, i have tried adjusting the setting but with no joy!!, this camcorder does not even have a light to switch on when filming in darker areas, there is a night switch which makes the objects/person like something out of the blair witch, can anyone give me any advice on this or will i just take it back to where i purchased it from, i mean it wasnt that cheap, £214.99 i paid,
