Toshiba SD 3980 DVD player has stopped working

Does anyone know what it means when you insert a dvd and the dvd player reads bad and the tv screen reads incorrect disc?

How can I fix this? I've already checked the parental lock and it is not on.

I have a toshiba with dvd

I have a toshiba with dvd and vhs built in and it quit playing regular dvds

I played a dvd that my daughter recorded and it played fine then ,when I went to play a regular dvd it would not play, but the recorded dvd still plays. any help would be appreciated
