Virus protection

I recently purchased a laptop computer and when I tried to disable the Mcaffe protection so that I could add my verizon dsl to the computer I accidentally erased Mcaffe. Is there any way to reinstall Mcaffe without paying Dell the 100 dollar service fee? I own a DEll Inspiron 6000 thanks!!!

When you say "I accidentally

When you say "I accidentally erased it", do you mean that you went to the McAfee folder on your hard drive and hit delete? Did you just delete the shortcut from your desktop? What exactly did you do?

Going by what you said, which is that you really erased it...

You should have received several CDs with your laptop when you got it. The McAfee software is probably on one of those discs. If so, reinstall the application.

If not, there's no need to send your laptop to Dell. Just run to the store and pickup a new boxed copy of McAfee, Norton Anti-Virus, Panda, or whatever anti-virus software you like. Drop the disc in your drive and install. It's as easy as that, and a lot less than 100 bucks.
