According to other members that have the same problem, it would seem that the vertical IC in the TV either needs to be resoldered or replaced. A good test is to whack the side of the TV (like how we fixed stuff in the good ol' days). If the image fills out, its almost definately your problem.
A technican can definitely repair the problem, and it shouldn't be a very costly repair.
