I am looking for a TV speaker that I can place on a table near a chair of a hearing impared person. I want a speaker that has a volume control and is small in size. I would need a long wire to reach around the room. My TV is a standard TV with a red and yellow input jack. I still want sound to come from the main TV when the speaker is on so other people can also hear the TV.
I have asked several web sites and they either say there is no such thing or I need buy a receiver first. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Not sure this will work, but it may be worth looking into. You could try to hook up an old set of PC speakers to your TV. You would have to buy a composite to 1/8" connector cable similar to this (without the yellow video)
Also buy a 1/8" to 1/8" adapter, since both the end of the composite cable and the speakers are male, probably available at Radio Shack. Connect the TV to the composite cable and the adapter both the speaker end and the composite cable end.
Again, I have no idea if this would work, but it's something to try.
