Also called fixed pixle

Also called fixed pixle displays, basically it means its geared to display one specific "native" resolution. Most current LCD's display 720p. So, lets say you connect a HD source that transmits a 1080i image, the monitor (LCD) will "scale" the image down to its native resolution of 720p. . With that said, typically the quality of the image comes from the actual processing taking place inside your LCD or DLP display. If you have a CRT based display it will display the full 1080i resolution. Don't let marketing fool you, compatable and capable are sometimes misused or misunderstood. Dispite old technology, CRTs are still considered an excellent display for high res. viewing and come highly recommended.
Hope that helps...

u r saying that lcd will

u r saying that lcd will scale it down to 720p well what if my lcd resolution currently set 1280x1024???
i think lcd will scale it down to 720p not coz its native is 720p but coz the resolution user currently set on lcd is 720p

If the source outputs 720p,

If the source outputs 720p, the display will upconvert to its native resolution, 1280x1024. The picture won't look much different but that is what its doing, its making more pixels out of less pixels.
If your XBOX has your LCD's native resolution as an output res, select it, the less work your display has to do the better.
If there is a output resolution selection on the display, it will scale the image with respect to the selected value (720p). That is a nice feature, it allows you to bypass the internal processing, I assume. It is an unusual feature on an LCD, what brand and model do you have?

when i connect xbox360 with

when i connect xbox360 with my crt monitor i see lots of resolution on the screen to choose when i choose 720p and play a game i get 720p with letter box black bars and when i choose 1280x1024 on some games the image strech look skinny but when i play call of duty 2 at 1280x1024 i get quality pic this mean that this game use entire 12080x1024 resolution so this mean it depend on games and for the lcd u r saying my lcd will convert 720p to 1280x1024
well i think u r wrong coz all my friend play xbox360 games on lcd at 720p and they get 720p resolution not 1280x1024 an thier lcd native resolution also 1280x1024.we will only get 1280x1024 resolution when we will select this resolution under xbox360 dashboard like i said in some games u will get entire 1280x1024 resolution on screen and in some games u will get skinny gray image means the game is scaling 720p to fit on 1280x1024 resolution not actually using the real 1280x1024.

Are you using PC monitors? I

Are you using PC monitors? I dont know if they process a signal the same way, if at all. My info for the most part is referencing HT equipment. But, if you have to select a res. in xbox menu to display it properly on the PC monitor than i would say it does not do any scaling, thus displaying exactly what it is recieving (720p, 1280x1024 etc...) Regarding game res., it may be similar to DVD aspect ratio, a preference of the developer/director.
