I have a Panasonic PV-IQ3250 VHS-C camcorder that turns off shortly after I turn it on. It seems to load the tape (I can see/hear the tape reel moving), but the light on the RECORD button flashes then the camcorder shuts down. It does this in both the VCR and camcorder operating modes. The battery is good, and it does the same thing when using the AC adapter. It also does the same thing with a new tape.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Same problem here with a PV-L657. The people from Panasonic were of no help whatsoever. I did notice that when I remove the tape, or keep the cassette door open, the unit will stay on, and the light will stop blinking. Problem must be in here. Sometimes it will display "check tape". Anyone have any thoughts on this?
Same problem here with a PV-GS12. Trying to use it as a web-cam but it keeps shutting off, disconnecting the chat. Panasonic didn't even answer my eMail.
I have solved my problem. I found info that the "stand-by" mode kicks in to keep the tape from being burned when it isn't recording - i.e., it basically turns off. I took the tape out of the camcorder and the camera now stays on until I turn it off. It does beep when you first turn it on to alert you to the fact there isn't a tape, but that lasts only 15-20 seconds.
Hope that helps the rest of you.
my Panasonic PV GS12 switches off after every 10 mins when when recording or not recording please help.
