i have an old sony tv 10+ years old crt. it takes a few seconds every time i change the channel to capture a proper signal and even then it's fuzzy. sound is the same thing sometimes even i get a cross of another station. just wondering if anyone knew if it was a tuning issue or a signal issue. and if it's a tuning issue if there were any schematics and suggestions that anyone could help me with.
Sounds like a tuner problem or a problem in the IF box. The way to tell is to open the tv and then tap on the tuner and the IF box (the if box is a silver box and about the same size and shape of your tuner). If the picture goes fuzzy and the sound is affected that's your problem. Next you would have to slide the chassis out enough to get to the underside and remove one or both of these boxes. You need good soldering skills, if you're up to it let me know and i'll try to explain further on how to continue.
