I connected my Denon 2802 to a new Sony DVD/VHS player. The first movie played with no issues, the next movie played about 3 minutes and the sound suddenly went off. The Denon still works on AM/FM but no sound on DVD/VHS - I switched from surround sound to direct to analog channels with no success. I reconnected the old DVD player with the same results - no sound. I am connected through an optical digital cable. Any suggestions?
What happens if you connect it with a composite (RCA) cable? Can you get sound that way?
yes, I get sound with the (RCA) cables. I also took the optical cable to Best Buy and hooked it to a unit there and it functioned properly. I am thinking it must be in the Denon unit?
My Denon (newer model) has an on screen setup menu where you need to set the optical output. Did you do this on yours? If not, that's probably your problem. Hook your unit directly into the TV to get to the display. I'm assuming that your model works the same way. Let me know what happens.
Thanks, I found the Amp needs to be set to Auto for it to play, somehow the input had been changed to DTS and thus the problem.
Thanks for the help
