Intermittent camcorder problem

I am using a Samsusng SCD103 which experiences intermittent problems with recording or playback. The battery pack is an Li Ion.
Can anyone tell me if the contacts on the camera do not make hard contact with the contacts on the battery could it still work?
The contacts on the camera are spring loaded and one set does not push up as high as the other.
Don't know if I explain clearly enough.
