I've replaced the dvd burner on my Toshiba RS-TX60 with a toshiba dvd+-r/rw purchased at comp usa. It goes through the motions with recording to a DVD- blank, but when it starts to finalize the system shuts down and restarts. It will not recognize DVD+ media. I'd be happy to take the DVD writer out and replace it if anyone can tell me what model will work. I've seen plenty of hard drive upgrades for the unit, but no info on the DVD drive.

I'm not surprised it didn't work, though it was a good try.
You'll need to acquire the exact OEM replacement drive for your recorder if you want this to work. Buying a PC drive at Comp USA isn't going to work.
