DVD Hookup problem

Here, is the story I just got a new Phillips DVD player hooked it up last night and nothing happens. I got the tv RCA brand set to channel 3. previous to the new DVD player I had a Emerson VCR/DVD Combo, While this was hooked up my Three year old son had taken the DVD wires that hookup to the tv off not sure what he did from there but after this the the DVD part of the combo would run without these wires hooked up
But now with the single DVD player I get nothing
Any help would be appreciated

DVD players do not connect to

DVD players do not connect to the television's tuner, but with line-level connection like S-Video, Composite, Component, or DVI. Thus, having the TV on channel 3 will not yeild an image from external inputs.

Look on your TVs remote control, or on the front of the TV, for a button labled "INPUT", "TV/VID", "EXT", or something similar. This button will cycle through the televisions various inputs. Select the one with the same number as shown where you plugged the DVD player into the TV. So, if you plugged the DVD player into "VIDEO 1" on the TV, then the TV's "VIDEO 1" input will need to be selected to view the DVD player.

if this is a new unit, try

if this is a new unit, try using the vidieo input jack on the tV set and connc those to the videio ouput on the player. if that does not work perhaps th new unit is defective, take it back for an exchange.
