My 6 year old RCA 46" projection TV has good picture but no sound, have tried changing to external speakers still just static, also no sound just static when VCR tape is played. Sound was normal and went to static while TV was playing Thanks for your help
I also have a 6 yr old RCA 46" projection TV that was working fine and 10 minutes after turning it on yesterday the sound went out. I did all the troubleshooting in the manual (its not muted; the speakers are "on") with no results. I have a combination DVD/VHS hooked to it but it was not on nor used lately. I have no sound on any channel (other TV's in the house work fine so its not cable prob). Any help is appreciated. The model is P46920BL
To Thomas: I posted right after you did with the same problem. A girl at the repair shop suggested I unplug the TV and wait a couple of minutes and replug it back in. Don't know why, but it worked. She said lots of people bring TV's in with no sound and when they plug them in they work again. Strange as we had no power surges or outtages, but try it. I was so happy it saved me a repair bill I ran out and bought her flowers! Hope it works for you too. lsj
Woo hoo! Buy that girl flowers from me also! I had the same problem with 32" RCA TV, sound just abruptly stopped working. Was about to grit teeth and go for expensive repair when I found this post. Tried the unplug, wait, replug solution and it worked like a charm. TY, TY, TY!
It wprked for my set also; service man said I had to "clear the microprocessoor " by unplugging the set.
