I have a 2 year old Panasonic CT-36HX42F. When I turn on the tv, the red LED comes on, then turns off about 2 seconds later. It won't turn on again after that unless I unplug the tv and replug it back in. Then the same thing happens again. I took the back off the unit and replaced the fuse, but no luck. When the tv turns off, there is a series of 3 clicking noises in the back of the unit.
Any help would be appreciated!

Panasonic TV is dead
I just had the same thing happen with the same TV. It's just over 2 years old. I was wondering if you've found the problem or gotten an estimate to have it fixed.
Thanks!
i see im not the only one with this concern with the panasonic ct-36hx42f tv. same concern as the both of you. have either of you guys found or heard of fixes for this concern. thks.
not much older panasonic tv has same but different problems let me know what you find to be causing this.
ok sounds like i may be helping here i have the same tv
most likeley the problem is the horizontal output transistor check it and replace if it is shorted replace it with a new one, partstore.com has a replacement B1BAJW000001 for $38 ( part are for a ct36hx42f if your model is different check for compatability).
in the process check the resistor r1529 it may be bad if so it is a 3300 ohm @1W so replace it with the same if it is bad. now after these parts are in test it
if it pops and the picture goes blurry periodically then it may need a new flyback transformer $65.60 at partstore.com
as of yet i have not replaced the transformer in mine when i do i will post and tell wether it fixes my problem
I have a 27" Panasonic Tv dvd/vcr combo, the problem is I have a thin line going across the screen and the rest of the screen is black. Sound is fine, dvd and vcr work fine, just the line across the screen. I was told to not leave it on because it would burn out the tube, which means I can't try to fix it. But I would like to get an idea of what is required to fix it, or if it is just trash. All helpful comments accepted. thanks.
I have a panasonic tv model#CT-27G31 the tv shuts off occassionally and them comes back on after several minutes...what is the cause and how can it be fixed?
I have same model and have replaced Q551 and T551(Flyback transformer). Q551 runs real hot aftera few minutes and the picture pulls in on right. The +144 volt supply holds at +144 volts. Any suggestions.
Huiebh, if you know for sure that the transistors are good originals, start by taking the B+ off the collector of the H.O.T. the turn set on and check base waveform. It should be just as the manual says. Now start tapping around to see if the waveform varies at all. Heat up the driver and driver transformer. If all is well, connect the B+ and check the collector waveform. It should ALWAYS have a fast rise time, a right angle. If there is ANY gradual rise of the waveform, you will have a call back. Feel the flyback and see if it is getting hot anywhere. Check all secondary voltages off the fly. Tap around again and see if any of the secondary voltages change at all. Check C502 and Q567. Good Luck and let us know how you made out.
Several of you had the same problem with their Panasonic CT-36HX42F (original comment 8/10/05). Specific suggestions were given by mos21r on 2/11/06. Did anyone try these suggestions and did they work? Did you have to do anything else? Is it still working? Thank you.
I unpluged set(TAU CT-36HX42F)and just took off the power cord plate (lower left on back of TV and noticed that the fuse to the left was blown, I couldn't get to it without taking the whole back off the TV,(there might be a tool for this) so I drilled a 1/2" hole and jigered out a box around the fuse, repaced it with a fuse from radio shack (.59) and it worked fine. A day or 2 later I hot glued the box back on. That was 3 years ago and it still gets a better pic than most LCD's.
i have a panasonic projection tv model#pt-47wx49e . when i turn the power on it flasher red for about 2-3 seconds then shuts off. it clicks when it shuts off and will not turn on until I unplug and plug it back in
sounds like bad convergence ic's. The best advice I can tell you at this point is to go to TV repair kits.com and order the complete convergence kit for your model of TV set, click on here please: http://www.tvrepairkits.com/xcart/home.php?partner=larry
no need to search and order multiple parts from different sources and pay multiple shipping fees! The kit comes with original Sanyo STK ICÂ’S , not those cheap aftermarket or china made ICÂ’S full pictorial directions, the thermal paste, resistors, the correct Pico fuses, AND free live on-Line tech assistance in case you run into a problem with the repair. They ship out 2 to 3 day Priority mail, the next day in most cases,
