We have an 8 yr old Panasonic 27" tv. For the last little while when we turn it off, the screen goes white instead of off. It works fine when you turn it back on. I have tried unplugging it, but it comes back with a green snowy screen that looks like a fish bowl shape. Is my tv starting to go? Do I need a new one?
Yikes, that's an odd problem...
This isn't anything that is user fixable, so you'll want to have the TV diagnosed and quoted by a repair center. However, 8 years on a 27" analog is decent enough, and the cost of repair will likely exceed the TVs value. Read "How to Determine if you Should Repair a Broken Device" for more on this.
I would toss the TV and upgrade since a new 27" analog TV runs between 125 and 300 bucks, but this may also be a good time to think about getting into HD.
