I have a Motorola 505 (L?) cell phone and the window displays a "check SIM" message. I can't make any calls. When I open the phone and push any button, the message switches to "emergency calls only." Help!
In the back of the phone (probably underneath the battery) there is a tiny card that looks like a camera memory card. This is known as the SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card.
It's not uncommon for these to come loose after a while, or maybe there is a bad connection. Remove the SIM card and reinsert. After you turn on the phone, everything should be back to normal.

You're welcome, and thanks for the compliment :-)
