My buddy gave me a handycam discribed above and when i put the tape in and hit record the tape doesnt move and then i get an eject button. I dont want to replace anything because it is probably cheaper getting a new one so what can i do?

Are you using a new blank tape, or a used one? I can't remember if these tapes have an erasure protection tab similar to VHS, but it's worth a look.
Otherwise, if it is really broken, just toss it and buy something new. I see no value in fixing it, expecially considering how costly it can be to fix a camcorder.
I have and eject problem. My tape was a used tape I taped over. It taped fine on play back. I tryed to eject the tape but it want come up. Any help. I called about having it serviced. They are wanting $200 to fix a $400 camer. HELP!! Isn't there something I can do to release the tape. It is a Sharp VL-Z3U, mini digial camcorder.
