DVD problem

I have a recently installed Myron & Davis DVD player. Kids were using and they informed me it wasn't working. Diplay reads Disc Error. It seems like the machine thinks it is already loading a DVD even thought one is not in and then says Disc Error. I am will to try to repair. Thought and ideas are welcome.
