I've owned a Canon Powershot 300 for 3 years now and the time for it to autofocus seems to keep getting longer, meaning I'm missing action shots or my kids actually looking and smiling. Is this a common thing that's just wear and tear (soon needing to be replaced) or something to troubleshoot? I know digital cameras are not the fastest to begin with, but this is getting to be rediculous.
Sounds like a problem with the camera. There are many settings that change the way the camera operates, shutter speed, exposure, etc., but nothing to my knowledge that makes a camera focus slower. Might be time for a new camera.
I'm going to have to agree with Ron, although I've never actually heard of this problem. Time to get your camera shopping game on!
