Upon startup, my set picture is full of jagged lines and colors of the program selected. After several minutes--it's getting longer all the time--the picture clears to fairly sharp, except for the top 1/3 of the screen, in which all the vertical lines are 'sawtoot' or wavy lines. The set is two years old; what is the problem?
I have the same problem, but only with DVD and VCR Inputs. Digital cable, which goes through the Bose DVD player and back to the TV through the same cabling, works fine. This leads me to believe the problem may be "signal level" related. Have you received any feedback or found a repair for your set?
The problem are bad surface mounted capacitors on the Hyper board. If you have no solid state repair experience, play it safe and call out a trained tech to assist you in this repair. If you do, first order the service manual to see how and where to take out the hyper board. Next order 10 -10MFD @ 16 volt surface mounted capacitors from tritronics.com or mcmone.com. Replace these caps and all your troubles will be gone. Please do not attempt this repair if you have no surface mount componet knowledge. Good Luck and let us know how this repair turns out.
Forgive me for asking, but does it make sense that the problem would only occur with any input EXCEPT digital cable? Regardless of which input I plug in to, cable works fine, but DVD (2 different units), VCR, and Playstation are all jittery (so bad you can't see the screen for nearly an hour after power up).
Yes it do not make sence but the hyper board is the picture converter. It converts those inputs to the digital signal, and the digital cable does not need to be converted. So if the Hyper board is not the problem, then there is a fault on the input board.
