Ok..heres my problem. I have my Insignia tv hooked up to my PS3 through component cables. Everything was fine and dandy for a couple of weeks. Then, just recently, after a couple hour of play the tv began to distort. It distorted to the point that all I could see where greenish blocks all over the screen. I turned the Tv off for about 10 seconds...and everything was back to normal. Five minutes later though..same thing happened. After the tv is off for a while..the problem stays contained for about the same amountr of time. The strange thing is, that if I change it to RF and watch regular tv, it works fine. No problems. Im just wondering, could this be my tv, or the console?? Any help would be much appreciated.
PLeaseeeeee...any insight into this problem would be a great help.
It's not an option now. It's out of warranty. What can i do now???
Have you tryed to hook up the game console to another TV set yet? If you do not have another tv set, try at a friends house or someone you know. If the console looks good then you have a problem with the input board or the coverter board. Sorry to say after the warranty on these sets nobody cares . I have even heard that the shops that do service the stuff from Walmart or Bestbuy, will not sell the boards for out of warranty repairs, as they need to hold on to them to do warranty repairs and these boards are hard to get. Not good news. Good Luck and let us know if you get the set fixed.
Thanx for the response Larry. Yeah I have tried the console on another Tv and it works fine. I also tried my dvd player on it, and it seems like it does the same thing. This seems to be some sort of heat issue, because after the tv is on for a while, thats when I get the issues. Like I said before, the only thing that remedies the problem is turning the tv of for a long period of time. Turning it off for about 20 seconds helps it, but in much shorter spurts of time of about 5 to 10 minutes. The only reliable thing on this tv that dosen't distort is the RF connection. I have my satellite feed going through there, and it works fine for hours. The YpBpr connection is the biggest problem. Hopefully something can be done.
Good Luck and let us know how anmd where you got this set repaired.
Insignia TV's are the house brand of Best Buy. They are made by a number of different manufacturers and parts and service info is unavailable to anyone other than Best Buys' service department. As far as the LCD's, there are no parts available for that model. Regardless, you'll have to take the unit to Best Buy anyway, they're the only ones that can do anything with it.
It is quite possible that the PS3 is overdriving the circuit. I may be able to get further info, but I need a model number.
Dan
Hey thanx for the info. Dan, I dont think its just the PS3 overiding the circuit now. I've tried my ps3 at a friends and it worked fine. Also, I've hooked up my dvd player through the components, and after about an hour and a half it did the same thing. So now I know that its the TV. As for the model number. It an IS-LCD TV32. It has a 2005 yr built date in the back. Any further info would be much appreciated. Thanx in advanced!
