My Sony TV screen turned deep red purple when my son played a magnet and accidentally placed the magnet on the surface of the screen. Please help me solve the problem.
try turning the set off for a while then back on the degaussing circuit will kick in....if this dosnt do it then u need a degaussing coil which is a piece of test equipment....
Depending upon the strength of the magnet, the TV may take a few attempts at degaussing to completely resolve this. The degaussing is what is occurring when you hear the "boing" sound when you turn on the set.
It looks like the built-in degaussing unit is working perpectly as I hear a "boing sound" when I turned the set on. I suspect the picture tube is faulty or the heater is shorted as the color is all over.
