I replaced one of the STK's and now the picture is off center ( to the left ) about 2" or so. How do I center the picture, it is over far enough so I can't read the first couple of letters when there are words to the left side.
TV Dummy, did you not read up on the subject? You really should have replaced BOTH of the STK IC's at the same time and only use what the manufactures recomend as a replacement part. Also did you apply new heatsink compound on the back of the new IC before you remounted the new IC? I hope you did not just buy a STK IC from anybody, as they all are not the same, even if they have the same numbers. you see these IC's run at almost 100% total capacity of the load that the IC's are designed for, so if you use a "replacement part", those IC's do not have the same rating and specs as the ORTIGINALS do. Also I hope you got a service manual, as you dont just put in an IC and your done. My friend, there will be some alighnment involved because as I said all parts cannot be manufacturered the same. This is going to involve you getting a manual, and going from part one of the convergence, including the horizontal and vertcal centering of the picture. Going into a Toshiba service menu is very dangerous if you do not know what you are doing. Never ever adjust something if you do not fully understand what the adjustment does. The correct part number for the Toshiba IC, STK-392-40 is 23905133. The part number for the entire convergence output board is 23701501. I cannot find a service manual for this set. You will need to contact a local Toshiba authorized repair depot for this or contact Toshiba via E-Mail HERE. Good Luck, and let us know how you made out with this set.
I know that I should have replaced both of them but this is an old TV that I just have in the home office. Yes I did apply enough heat compound and I bought the part from a friend of mine that owns his own TV repair business, but I really wanted to figure this one out myself and didn't want to bother him with anymore questions. I'm not quite as dumb as I make myself sound but I'm sure my wife wouldn't agree with me. When I was younger my dad owned his own TV repair business and I learned some things from him also, but that was a long time ago. So far I have repaired also everything on this set myself but I just can't figure out how to move the picture to the right, it's not a big deal to me but it just irritates me that I can't see the first letter on the left side. Thanks for your help.
Ok No problem. See if you can get the manual from your friend, as it is not like the tVs of the past I am sure you are aware of this though. The service menu is a tricy thing but I am sure with your background you will tweek this puppy to look good. At the sme time while your in this service mode tweek up the screens and the RGB drives and the focus and clean the mirrors and lens.. Good Luck.

Everything you mention here I have already done and the picture really looks great for about a 15 year old tv, maybe I'll just live with it.
Thanks for the help
