menu button

I purchased a television from the pawn shop and it came with no remote. I now have cable and need a remote to set up my channels. I purchased a universal remote and their customer service rep told me I need to press menu button on my television. My problem is I don't see a menu button! Can you please tell me where it is located. My model # is vv8220. It is a Quasar TV/VCR combo. Thanks for your help.

The term "universal" when

The term "universal" when talking about third party remote controls is hardly an accurate descriptor. Many smaller (and usually cheaper) universal remotes typically don't support menu functions. However, there are some out there that do. I'd return the remote you purchased and look for a more robust universal remote control. I'd try One-For-All's product line. They will probably be your best bet. And don't forget to try Panasonic codes on your Quasar TV, many of the codes are the same.

Just remember, even if you get a remote with a menu button, that doesn't guarantee it will control the device you have. Welcome to the world of trial and error.

If you can't find a universal that will work (or you don't want to try), your best option is to obtain an original replacement remote for your TV (the one that came with it) from a service center, if available. These can be costly, but it WILL work every function of the TV.
