Fresnel Lense Philips Magnovox Projection

Sorry if I cannot spell the name of my tv. I don't really think it's that important anyway. I took my screen off and cleaned off the tubes in the back. The problem I'm having is the fresnel lense that when I put the screens back together, I could see it was smudged. I could see the large circle in the middle of the screen was clear but the corners of the picture were blurry. I have tried and tried to get this cleaned but everytime I use either water or that special monster cleaner and shammy cloth, as soon as I go to wipe the liquid off, it just gets foggy. I am talking about the side with the grooves on it. I tried following the grooves, going straight up and down and even small circular motions. It almost seems like if I put water on it and let it dry naturally its clear.

Any suggestions people? Or Do I have to buy a new lense (which I'm hoping you can do)

I would really appreciate any help at all. THANKS!

Have you looked inside the

Have you looked inside the tubes while the set is turned on?  Make sure you do not have a problem with the liquid coolent inside the tubes before you condem anything else.  NEVER ever go in circular motion on the outside screen or the fresnel screen.  Just as you would never ever go in nothing more then a circular motin with the lenticular screen on the inside,  And you spelled the name fine, but how are we to assit you without a model number and or a chassis number of the TV set your inquirering about?

Hey thanks a lot Dillon I

Hey thanks a lot Dillon I tried just whiping the lense following the groves and just kept it up for a long time and right now I am watching Dave Letterman and it looks fantastic! It's not the best condition when we first got it but its about 95 percent. The only thing I notice is that it "halos" a green color around whites. Weird but looks a lot better.

Thanks for your help Larry for I originally thought circular motions were the best way!

You could have scratched the

You could have scratched the screen or marred it by rubbing it in a circular way.
