Zenith with a "red" problem

I have an older Zenith HDTV. It is model D32D51 and is a tube HDTV. We turned the TV on this morning it was reddish with no green. When you look at the Weather Channel and see rain it is not green, but is black. I went to the menu and checked the tint. I can not change it and it seems to be the locked into full red.

My question is it worth fixing? It is a minor problem or major. I paid around $1000 in 2001 for the TV and have enjoyed it up until now, but am not sure I want to put anymore into it.

Thanks in advance,
Bob

Your problem could be a bad

Your problem could be a bad picture tube, or a problem in the green drive circuit on the picture tube socket, or the main drive from the video jungle IC.  The set is 6 years old about, so i guess an estimate might be in order.  Call around and see what the local shops want to charge you for an estimate and if they want more then 45 or 50 bucks, plus the repair charge, I would cut my loses and purchace a new TV set.  Good luck.  Let us know what you decide.

Thanks for the comment.  I

Thanks for the comment.  I just got back from shop that charged $40 for the estimate, but that will be applied toward the repair, if I have it done.  I told them that about $200 was my limit, but to call.

We will see.  It was a very good set for the last 6 years.
