I have a Polaroid FLM 3201 32" LCD. the screen clearly works, because the menu, channel # display, etc. are clear as is the initial display of the brand name when the monitor is first turned on. But regardless of which input I use the display says 'no signal'. Does this sound like something reasonably repairable or is it a lost cause. i was given the set so I may be willing to spend a fair amount on a repair. Thanks in advance. PLUR
That could be the main signal board or, if it has a seperate AV switching board it could also be on that. Polaroid parts are tough to come buy.
Okay an update. I had it looked at by SDTV in MA. (there website though is DLP Repair) It appears that it suffered a surge and both the video processor and the power supply were damaged. It will be between 500 and 600 dollars to fix. Anyone have an opinion on wether this seems like a reasonable amount and is this set worth it. Remember I don't have any money invested in it at this point. (just also want to say I have been very impressed with the professionalism of SDTV)
I have seen 45" LCD TV's for less then a grand, on sale.
I agree with Larry. 500-600 is too much to invest in a 32" Polaroid LCD. Over the past few weeks, I've seen off-brand 32" models going for 500-600 new, and you could even get a quality 32" to 37" model for not much more. I recommend the new direction instead of repair. You may also want to invest in a quality surge protector. :-)
Thanks. I do use surge protectors for everything. This set was given to me after the problem to see if I wanted to try and fix it. Needless to say my friend who replaced this with a new Sony is now using a surge protector as well. PLUR
Update: I now have the unit and have repaired the power supply. There was indeed a surge through this set. Three filter caps in the power supply were toast, measuring 200ufd or less when rated 680ufd. These were replaced and the set no longer shows "no input signal" The set receives audio from over the air transmissions but will not show video. I think the next step is to check out the video processing section. I'll keep you posted.
BTW: I think that half of te charge for these sets is based on a per screw basis... (over 30 screws just to get at anything interesting.) Not a repair for a novice.

Hello. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you are able to find and correct the video issue. Thanks for the update. Jerry
