availability of RCA television parts

I purchased a 38" RCA widescreen HD TV model F38310YX5 in Nov 2002.  It recently shut off and smelled hot and would not turn back on.  After taking it to the television repair shop, I was told that the two parts needed (part #248598 High voltage block and part #250789 Fly Back)were no longer available.  I called RCA and was given a case number and told to look on internet for parts because they had none available.  In shopping for a new television, I was informed that this is a common problem with RCA and that it was thought that they had a class action suit against them for not making parts available.  Law states that a company needs to carry parts for seven years past the end of discontinuing a model.  I have $1800 invested, would like to know if anyone knows if parts are available and if in fact there is a law suit against RCA.  I would like to put my name on the petition if there is.  The repairman told me that me that he has had no luck with aftermarket parts.

I have not yet found the HV

I have not yet found the HV Block anywhere, but I have had good luck using replacement flybacks from a company called ASTI Magnetics based in New Jersey.  I looked up the part number for your flyback at TRITRONICSINC.COM and found the ASTI substitute.  Try that first.  This part is available for $27.00 plus shipping.   Its worth a try.  I'll get back to you on the HV block.
