JVC AV-48WP74 Rear Projection HDTV

I have this JVC TV and have a problem... for the last couple of months when I switched from any input (i.e. video 1 through digital in) to another input the screen would display either one of three things:

a plain grey screen with the bottom of the screen having a bowed black section.

a plain green  screen with the bottom of the screen having a bowed black section.

or, a screen split vertically in half with one side blank or grey, and the other side scrambled vertically.

I have equipment hooked up as follows:

Video 1 - DirecTv HD H20 reciever through component cables.

Video 2 - Playstation 2 with component video

Video 3 - Sony DVD with S-Vdeo

Now, the tv won't even display a picture except for one of the above things. It used to fix itself by cycling the power but now it just doesnt work.

Any help appreciated.

This is a tough one to call.

This is a tough one to call.  This is a good set when they are working.  I have seen on some cable systems, this TV Will delay tuning for a half of second, when changing channels, and clear up.  To get to your problem.  I spoke to my buds who are JVC authorized.  They told me that this set has problems on the digital board and will show these symtoms you have sometimes.  Also you could be missing a power supply source.  The convergence IC's have been known to suck down the poawer supply and cause all sorts of weird problems.  It is not that old of a set, so my best advice would be to call in an authorized JVC serve person to diagnoise the set for you.  wish i could give you a better answer.  Good Luck, and let us know how you make out with this set.

Thanks, I think it is

Thanks, I think it is temporarily fixed, or at least not acting up anymore, but now I know that a major problem is coming, as long as it lasts through the NFL playoffs (Bears Fan) I'll be fine.

I was Looking at JVC's parts website and there are many types of IC's, anywhere from $19 to $90, you wouldn't happen to know part numbers for the ones that usually act up like this do you?

Oh i would not just replace

Oh i would not just replace any IC's without knowing what parts were bad first.  If this set is working now, you could have simply a bad solder connections on the main board or the digital board.
