Toshiba 32HL83 LCD - turns off by itself/no menu on screen

My Toshiba 32HL83 will intermittently turn off or maybe more likely goes into standby mode. When this happens, it sounds like it was put into standby (a relay kicking out) but it will not repsond when trying to turn it back on. It will come back on by itself. This occurs both when the TV has been on for some time and shortly after being turned on. It can happen several times within an hour or go for days without occuring.

There are some other, maybe unrelated, problems/symtpoms. Occasionally, when transitioning from standby mode to on, the color is washed out, "light", or "faded". This too will correct itself in time.

Another problem/symptom is that neither the menu button nor the input button on the remote control will list any menu on the screen. I am able to change the inputs by entering an input number so I know that the signal from the remote is accessing the TV and the TV responds. Occasionally when pushing the menu button, the screen will attempt to change but doesn't amount to much.

This TV was a floor model so it has had plenty of use but didn't have any of these problems when purchased.

Thank you for your reponse.

Thank you for your reponse. Is there a way to troubleshoot the problem? Test points I can check? Schematic I can obtain?

Nope. That's a board level

Nope. That's a board level replacement set.  Schematics are worthless.  Change the seine board first.

    I recently had this

I recently had this problem fixed with my system.

This must be a common failure mode for Toshiba.

    Attached is the repairman's notes:
