Sony Premiere won't play burned MP3 disk anymore

Ok, I know I'm blond - but really - this one has me completely stumped. I bought a Sony Premiere car stereo about a year ago, up until about a month ago it was working great and then one day it just wouldn't read any MP3 disks that I've burned anymore. It will say FRMTREAD (I understand that) and after about a minute it comes up with ERROR 23. I checked the manual and that means it can't read it because it is an unknown format. I've played those disks about a thousand times before! How could it be unknown? I've checked all my setting that I can get to - nothing. Can anyone shed some light onto what has happened? I need my music!

Yes, it still reads regular

Yes, it still reads regular disks, even ones that I have burned that are music cds. It just won't read MP3 or data disks.

Well, based on what info you

Well, based on what info you've provided, it's not a mechanical error or user error since it's a disc that played before. I'm thinking it's an internal software problem. I haven't ruled out an electronic problem, but those are harder to diagnose.

Let's start with the easiest fix. The first thing I would try is disconnecting the car battery for an hour or so. That will force the radio to reset, and start from scratch. When that's done, pop in your MP3 CD and give it a whirl.

Come back and let us know how

Come back and let us know how it turns out. If it doesn't work, maybe we can brainstorm a few more ideas.
