Hello everyone. I just bought a Sony Wega TV and the screen is fine except for letters seem to have a ghostly shadow next to them. This is an issue not only for the cable but also when I play DVD's. At first I thought the problem was the cable hook-up, but since the DVD does the same thing, what is the problem and how can I fix it??? Thanks!
Is this a new TV and whats the model number?
It is 5 to 6 years old. I bought it from a friend for a discount price because of the double imaging. For example, if I turn to a news station, the picture is fine, the only problem is the bottom line which is seen in a shadowed ghostly double image. On DVD's it is the same, it is only the lettering (like during the credits etc...) The model number I will get and reply again.
To explain it more, it almost looks like there are three letters per letter, three different colors: red, green, and blue. the red and green are the faint colored letters. Any thoughts?
I've tried Sony Support and they are terrible. Can someone please help.
It sounds like a typical fault that happens to most TVs of this type, if not all tube type front as well as rear projection TV sets. It is the two convergence IC,s at fault. There are two stk type IC's that need to be replaced as a pair, and need to adjust after the IC's are replaced. If your tech savay, know how to solder and unsolder, and also know how to work on solid state printed circuit boards, then you may be able to replasce the IC's yourself. But I warn you if you do not have the know how, a TV set is not a place to try to save a few bucks, or for a handi- person to fooling around inside of. This is dangerous stuff if you don't know the dangers of the High Voltage circuits. If your not inclined to do this repair yourself, you may spend up to 400 bucks to have this set repaired. Good Luck, and let us know how you made out with this repair.
