Oh my yes it would for sure. Make sure you have plenty of heat sink compound on the transistor too. Dont forget to tighten that screw down good, and recheck and double check your work, always.

were can I buy some heat sink compound would radio shack have it
Yes they would have that. or I would hope they did. If not, Please do not settle for some crap stuff, go to www.mcmone.com and order the right stuff, if radio shack does not have the compound thats for heat transfer.
Hello just got back from out of town I got my new parts I was checking voltages between Q801 s point and p2a on T801 the voltages v was 187v then it went down slowly to 0.
So you replaced the regulator you left the heat sink screw off of? How about the regulator driver IC. That problem got taken out also when you left off the screw. Also double check all of the resistors in the curcuit.

I was checking resistance on that curcuit between T801 Q801 the resistance was starting out 0 ohms and would go to high around 10,000 ohms
Hello I got my tv working I had 3 bad DIODES D816 D822 D817 the video ant so great if i got the DIODES in wrong would that make the video have lines in it the sound is great.
Hello my tv is working good I thank everyone for the help it was a great learning experiance .the 100 watt light bulb could have made the video not work right because when i put the fuse in the tv video was not playing good so I turn the tv off then the next day I turn it on it worked good.
Glad to hear you finally got the beast to work. Yes the fuse is supose to be used to stop the parts from buring out in case there is a short. Once you seen the TV come on and play, your supose to replace the fush and do all fianal adjustments from there.
You did put in the screws to the heat sink correct? Oh and you also put heatsink compound on the back of the device before mounting it on the heat sink? Thatnheat sink will get hot, but not so hot you can fry an egg on it.
I have a similar problem with the same set, except the fuse did not blow up. Same red LED signal 5 times on/off, pause and then on/off again. There is 9 volts on the T802 but the relay doesn't click.
No voltage on T801 and Q801. There's 2 DC volts on pin 8 of IC801. I jumped a 100 watt bulb on both ends of the fuse but it did not light.
I tested (with a multimeter) D816, D817, and D822, Q801 - they seem to be OK. I am planning to order and replace IC801 and Q801. But before I do so, can Larry Dillon or Buckie please email me the schematic (the set was bought open box) so I can make some more voltage checks ?
I was looking at Q801 I left the srew out of Q801 were it srews to the heat sink would that cause Q801 to blow after 5 mins.

Larry I will say this is the best tv repair site that is out there. step by step repair education ,
I have been watching Q801 the heat sink gets hot . 30 mins playing .

yes I put compound and the screw. the tv is working better than ever i watched my tv for 6 hours with no touble .

can somebody email me the schematics pt-53tw53 pnasonic 53inch hdtv [email protected] preffered for the convergence board
Yes i fixed the TV it was a transistor Q801.
I am in need of the schematics for the PT53wx panasonic projection. It has become Personal Now! [email protected]
