Toshiba TP48C90 Convergence Problem

I have a Toshiba 48" Projection Cinama Series that is experiencing color convergence problems. All three lines are out of wack and the adjustment does not work when I switch it to test mode.

 Any Ideas?

Yes my freind, you have the typical convergence problem that all rear tube type projection sets have at least once in their lifespan.  There are two Stand up IC's on a metal heatsink, that have STK and some other numbers on them.  There are no user replaceable parts inside these sets, so if you have no solid state repair experience, please play it safe, and call in a trained Toshiba tech to assist you in this repair.  If you do know how to work on solid state printed circuit boards, My first bit of advice would be to get a service manual, and also do not use any of the inexpensive subs or replacement IC's to replace the originals with.  Good Luck, and please let us know how you made out with this set.

Thanks Larry!

Thanks Larry!

I've looked for a service manual but I can't seem to find one. Do you have a web site you could recommend? Also, I've read some comments regarding buying the IC's that are inferior to the original parts. Particularly ones manufactured in China. How can you tell where these parts are manufactured when you order them?

For the IC's go with the originals or ones that do not cost 5 bucks. they are whats known as counterfit semiconductors.  Im looking for the manual, as all I can find so far is the owners manual.

I can't seem to find you a manual from the normal places, but go to this page and look up a parts distributor closest to you and maybe they can get one for you. http://tacpservice.toshiba.com/Consum...
