i have a rca 32v432t that shuts its self on and off by its self. has any one else had this problem? i think its some thing do with voltage regulation.any ideas
Shut down intermittantly. Unit will run then shut down unexplainably? The set can be turned on again and will run fine? Shutdown is random. Error codes will be registered. We have re-soldered the multiplexer IC U13202, next to U13101. Also , remove microprocessor and EPROM(U13101 & U13102) and re-seated them. These are socketed. This might indicate that the soockets are oxidizing and becomming intermittent. Following this proceedure the televisions seemd to be operating fine. Also try resoldering the pins on the Hgh Voltage transformer as well as check the main power supply for cold solder connections God Luck
Larry, sorry to beat a dead horse to death ...got the exact same tv ... plug it in, the red stand-by light is on, push the "power" button, tv then comes on and the stand-by light goes off with volume, etc working fine ... after a short while ( 1 to 10 minutes) the tv will shut off (the stand-by light comes on) and the sound goes off and the volume buttons won't work but the picture stays on. If I push either the power or channel buttons the stand-by light will go off and the sound comes back on ( keep in mind the picture will stay on thru all of this, it just goes blue then dark then comes back on).... after a moment or 2 it cuts back off. To turn the picture off I have to unplug it then plug it back in then it's in stand-by.
It sounds like the microprocessor and eeprom socket problems. Had them a few times after I looked up my notes. Have'nt had many as thats why I did not remember right away. Also cold solder connections on the flyback transformer. Good Luck, and please let us know how you made out.
well its been awile but i did get back to this set turned out to be very simple and i found it inadvertently had the board out looking for the ics larry mentioned to see what i was up against to resolder them had the set on and board turned up wanted to move it into a better view decided to unplug the control panel and there the it was the problem went away turned out to be the power button itself soldered in another out of my scraps works good for over a month now hope this was helpful
Amazing how sometimes it is the simple things that cause the headaches!!
As a rule, I always check the "stupid stuff". I can't tell you how many times I have scratched my head looking for a problem only to find something simple that I overlooked. Thanks for the update lilmog.

Hello! I have this same RCA model television and it is shutting off on it's own - only had it a year and a half. When you said "you decided to unplug the control panel and there it was", what did you see that was causing the problem.
We are ready to ship our TV to RCA and tell them goodbye forever!
What would the chassis number be please, as I dont see that model in my service manual directory? It should start with PTV on the back of the set.
That set uses a M134C chassis.
Don't suppose anyone has a service manual they'd like to share?

common problem, replace entire board up front or replace all the small tact swichs on thefront control board they are really cheap to get.
For Tv shuts down after several minutes...found cold solder on IC301 Low Voltage regulator....resoldered and unit works fine........
