Sony Trinitron 32 inch - 9 yrs old

Picture started blinking at first slow and over months has progressed to every 2 secs.  Pic is good, sound is good and sometimes the blinking will actually go about 10-15 sec's between blinks.  Thanks for any help!

Have seen this problem before

Have seen this problem before, it was a bad picture tube.  You might try turning down the master brightness. Remove the back of the set and on the flyback transformer there are two knobs or screw adjustments. The flyback is that black box with a red wire coming out of it going to the picture tube. One adjustment will be for focus the other for brightness. Try turning down the brightness a little bit.

That's actually the screen

That's actually the screen control, not the master brightness.  But it does sound like a typical Sony CRT going out.

Ok, folks, I have the set

Ok, folks, I have the set opened and am looking at the red wire going from the top of the pic tube to the flyback transformer I guess.  I can only look at this are from side views since I would have to unhook a thousand wires to look directly on top of the txformer since the back of the TV serves as 1/2 of the "guts" with most of the circuit boards.  Don't see any screw adjustments mentioned for screen control.  Any better description for adjustments??  Thanks!
